Buscot Park is the home of Lord Faringdon and his family, who look after it for the National Trust. The house has an extraordinary collection of furniture and antiques, as well as paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens, Botticelli, Rossetti, Murillo and many other artists. Its most famous room is the saloon, which contains 'The Legend of the Briar Rose', a series of paintings by the Pre-Raphaelite artist Sir Edward Burne-Jones inspired by the tale of Sleeping Beauty.
There are a wide variety of gardens to explore, the most famous being the Water Garden designed by Harold Peto in 1904. This takes you down a woodland glade past sculptures, seats, a cascade, a fountain, and a footbridge to the shore of a lake. There are four other tree-lined avenues, each leading to a feature such as a Swinging Garden, or a circular hedge containing the tallest sundial in England. Each generation has added to these gardens. The first Lord Faringdon commissioned the Water Garden. The second laid out the series of tree-lined allées. Since then, the current Lord Faringdon linked these to circular gardens and transformed the old vegetable growing area into the Four Seasons Garden.

Elderly and disabled visitors…
Please note, there are gravel paths, some steep stone steps and fourteen steps to the house entrance. The house is not suitable for wheelchair users, but ramps are in place to the tearoom, marquee, formal gardens, and lavatory. There are four single-seater powered mobility vehicles for use in the grounds, by arrangement with the Estate Office.
