The Art of Boxing

West Oxon Boxing Club

divider

Being a family-run club, we welcome people from all walks of life. The art of boxing is used as a platform for a variety of reasons other than just to compete in a ring.

As well as the usual improvement of body strength, increased fitness, weight loss and of course learning how to box, the art also encourages social inclusion, increases confidence levels, and decreases stress levels. The health benefits of both mind and body are endless including self-awareness and emotional control.

We know that non-contact boxing provides a cathartic release of anger and stress, with evidence of improved mood, self-esteem, confidence, concentration, metabolic burden, strength, and coordination. Not only that but boxing serves as a form of natural anti-anxiety and improves focus and sleep quality. Research has also found that the release of these hormones through boxing can also help decrease anxiety and depression. It’s like that "running high" feeling, only with boxing instead and of course it’s great fun.

The experienced male and female coaches at West Oxon Boxing Club, all of whom are volunteers, are waiting to welcome you. They are passionate about getting the best out of every single individual who steps through the doors no matter your ability or fitness level.

This really is a sport that is accessible to all regardless of gender, ethnicity, or capability. Boxing has the power to bring people together with its unique ability to connect people from different backgrounds and encourage them in a sport that inspires and changes lives. It is a sport that is centrally placed to tackle societal issues and inequalities and more importantly, is run by people who know and understand the issues and challenges being faced by their members every day.

And with all that said we have outgrown our club and have moved to bigger premises just around the corner. (Unit 12c, Crawley Mill Industrial Estate)

It is, without doubt, going to be the place that you are going to want to train. The new club is over 3 times the size of our old club and we now have the capacity to provide cardio machines to enhance your experience.

Over the coming weeks, you will see some expansions to our timetable as we will be providing sessions for children, juniors, parents & babies as well as 1-to-1’s and small group training. We are super excited to welcome new members to come along and join us.

We guarantee that there will be something for everybody no matter what previous experience you have or don't have. We welcome everyone.

Please feel free to pop in and have a look or drop us a message to find out more. Remember, as always, your first session is FREE!

Experienced Coaches have said that the 13- 15 year old teams often struggle as the boys mature. Some have a change of heart and move in a different direction, some become passionate about the game. Some parents bring their lads along to try and give them a focus, a physical outlet or to give them a direction in which to find themselves. Our team has struggled with these challenges and as Coaches we have deliberately sought to develop the team with a focus on the RFU core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship (TREDS).
