Have you heard about ‘Parkrun’, the free community events all over the world, taking place each weekend? In Witney we are lucky to have two events:

Witney Parkrun: 9am each Saturday, 5km course at the West Witney Sports and Social Club (on Burford Road)

Wood Green junior Parkrun (for children aged 4-14): 9am each Sunday, 2km course at Wood Green school (Woodstock Road)

Both events are friendly and inclusive, and eager to welcome new participants whether they want to walk, jog, or run.

The events are completely free and open to all. The only requirement in order for you to join the fun is to register online at parkrun.org.uk/register. Registration costs nothing and will provide you with a barcode which you can print off and use to record your participation at any parkrun event.

For anyone interested but unsure about coming along, feel free to ask questions (via email or Facebook). Hopefully, some of the photos, reports and lovely comments on our Facebook pages will reassure you that these events are fun for everyone. Another brilliant way to get involved is by volunteering at our events – a fun and rewarding way to engage with the community (no prior experience is needed).

If you’re looking for something new, look no further. Hopefully, we will see some new faces in the coming weeks at Witney Parkrun and/or Wood Green junior Parkrun.

Oh, and don't forget your barcode!

Experienced Coaches have said that the 13- 15 year old teams often struggle as the boys mature. Some have a change of heart and move in a different direction, some become passionate about the game. Some parents bring their lads along to try and give them a focus, a physical outlet or to give them a direction in which to find themselves. Our team has struggled with these challenges and as Coaches we have deliberately sought to develop the team with a focus on the RFU core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship (TREDS).
