The Abingdon Camera Club

Access to a camera is easier now than it has ever been. In the past we relied on a compact or SLR camera, either film or digital, but with nearly everyone having a mobile phone with a camera, a photograph is only ever a few seconds away. However, how many times do you see the perfect scene, point, and shoot, only to look at the results and be disappointed? At least now with digital cameras and phones, the delete button is always available – we might be able to help you use it less, however…

If you live in Abingdon or local surrounding area and would like to improve your photographic skills, the Abingdon Camera Club’s 2022/23 season is up and running. The Club welcomes new members, and the long-established club is a great way to develop your skills and experience. They have a programme of events running from September to July each year. Membership will give you the opportunity to take part in print and digital image competitions, listen to external speakers sharing their specialist photographic knowledge, watch member presentations, take part in photo challenges, activity evenings and much more.

Meetings are held weekly with half in person, half via Zoom. As well as full membership, they also offer an online membership which gives online members the chance to come along to the in-person meetings/activities for a nominal payment per session as well as the ability to take part in the Digital Image competitions.

Members of the Abingdon Camera Club range from some long-experienced photographers to near beginners. However, they all have one aim and that is to improve at their hobby in an enjoyable, friendly atmosphere. Whatever your level of expertise, type of equipment, or particular photographic interest, you’re welcome – you don’t even have to own a camera.

In-person meetings are held on Thursdays at the All-Saints’ Church Hall, Dorchester Crescent (off Appleford Drive), Abingdon OX14 2AQ. All weekly meetings start at 8.00 pm concluding around 10.00 pm.
