BFBS, the military charity and media organisation, triumphs at this year's Community Radio Awards, as the exhilarating Breakfast Show on the BFBS Brize Norton station clinches the coveted Entertainment Show of the Year title. Presenter Gemma-Leigh James also received a well-deserved bronze certificate for Female Presenter of the Year.
Gemma-Leigh presents the Breakfast Show from 06.30-10am on weekdays, entertaining and supporting the local military personnel, their families, and veterans in the community. The judges said, "The [Breakfast] Show has all the elements of a great programme, putting the audience first with fast-paced and interactive content aimed at its core audience. The presenter impressed the judges with their confident handling of both the fun and the more sensitive and informative topics."
One of the stand-out features of the Brize Norton Breakfast show is Too Cool for School, which showcases local kids sharing fascinating facts of the day, giving the show a strong connection with its local community.
Over the past year, Gemma-Leigh has reported on some significant events, including the inaugural SAF (Sustainable Aviation Flight), the 40th-anniversary remembrance of veterans returning to the Falklands, 47 Squadron stand-down Royal Parade, and the retirement of the C130 Hercules.
Gemma-Leigh James says: "It's a huge honour to receive Gold for Best Entertainment Show and Bronze for Female Presenter of the Year. I've been privileged to cover many important stories from our RAF community. I'm hugely proud of our RAF personnel, listeners, and guests who make the show what it is.”
These accomplishments represent the commitment of BFBS and its team to the ongoing delivery of high-quality content to our audience. Listen to Gemma-Leigh James weekdays 06:30-10am on BFBS Brize Norton, online, on the BFBS Radio App, on a smart speaker, and FM in Brize Norton on 106.1 FM.
