Local artist Simon Morriss, renowned for his exhibitions with the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, in the Royal Watercolour Society Contemporary Watercolour Exhibition and at the Royal West of England Academy has recently unveiled a stunning new art installation within Carterton Community Centre’s Community Room.

The Parliamentary Constituency of West Oxfordshire was created in 1989 and is what is perceived to be a ‘safe’ Conservative seat. However, recent YouGov polling has the Lib Dems and Conservatives neck and neck in this constituency, with Lib Dems at 37%, Conservatives at 41% and Labour at just 13%.

Since 1986 when a small group of enthusiastic amateur artists, under the leadership of Tom Askwith, decided to create an art society in the town, the Lechlade Art Society soon attracted members and now some 38 years on, there are nearly 100 members together with an active working Committee.

Nationally and internationally, there are over 2000 women in 72 choirs who form the Military Wives Choir community. Not only do they share the ability to sing melodically, but choir members are all associated with the military, either as spouses or partners of serving members, Veterans and their spouses or partners and former employees who have worked in the military network.
