Looking for activities to keep the children engaged this summer?

With the school holidays soon upon us , if you are looking for activities to keep your children engaged this summer, the Oxfordshire Libraries are running their Summer Reading Challenge 2024 – Marvellous Makers! Starting on the 6 July through to 7 September. This year’s free, fun Challenge is all about creativity and is the perfect summer activity to build your child’s reading skills and confidence during the holidays. All children have to do, is read six books over the summer holidays – as children read, they can collect stickers, to help the Marvellous Makers find items that have gone missing from their creative toolbox! Once the Challenge is completed, children will be awarded a medal and Certificate!

Writers Open Mic: Saturday 6th July from 2pm to 3.30pm. Come along and listen to local authors reading their poetry and pieces of writing – budding authors and poets are also welcome to join in – open to all! No need to book, just pop in!

Junk Modelling: Saturday 13th July from 10amto 12pm. Come and have a go at making rockets, cars, animals and more out of junk! This activity is suitable for children aged 3yrs plus – no need to book, just pop in!

MyVision Coffee held on the Wednesday afternoons: 17th July, 21st August and 18th September from 2pm - 3.30pm. Come and join in with this fun social group, supporting people with visual impairment! No need to book, just pop in!

Painting without Brushes: Saturday 20th July from 10am to 12pm. Come and have a go at making artwork without using a brush – wearing old clothes advised! This activity is suitable for children aged 3yrs plus – please book your free ticket by phoning 01235 762291!

Lego Artwork Challenge: Saturday 27th July from 10am -12pm. Can you make some artwork out of Lego – come and have a go! No need to book, just pop in!
