The ever-popular Faringdon Art Society Annual Exhibition is an inspiring and welcoming experience for visitors and an eagerly anticipated opportunity for our local artists to display their talents.

“Love it. Wonderful display of local talent and such a high standard.”

“Splendid exhibition, as ever!”

Local artists, from beginners to well-known names, exhibit their latest works. These artists are considered for awards and have the opportunity to sell their art creations during the Autumn of each year. Framed and hanging artworks, unframed prints, 3D pieces and printed cards are all sought during the Exhibition.

Awards go to one winner and one highly commended artist in each of seven categories, with the overall winner presented with the perpetual Faringdon Art Society Cup. The winner for 2023 was Karen Vogt with her impressive sculpture “Mother and Child”.

Seven categories means a broad range of art can be discovered and enjoyed. Watercolour/ Gouache, Oil/Acrylics, Mixed Media/Collage, Pastel/Drawing, Other Techniques, Sculpture, Ceramics/ Glasswork/Other 3D artworks are the categories. Visitors get to have their say with two public vote awards – for most popular artwork and most popular artist - announced at the close of the Exhibition. This has become a fun part of the event as old and young visitors compare their favourites!

The public vote winners last year were Christine Purdy for “Friends” and Jill Smith as the most popular artist.

The Society is proud to provide the opportunity for Members to share their talents with the community in our wonderful, historic Corn Exchange in the Market Square of Faringdon.

The artists themselves become stewards for their own exhibition so visitors have the chance to talk with artists about their creations.

With free public entry, it has always been an attraction for those seeking original and affordable pieces of art or visitors with an interest in seeing what our talented local artists have being creating!

The 59th Annual Exhibition opens on Friday 29 September 2023 in Corn Exchange, Market Square, Faringdon SN7 7JA.

Friday 29 September - 10:00am – 6:00pm

Saturday 30 September - 10:00am – 6:00pm

Sunday 1 October - 10:00am – 4:00pm
